We discussed the transformative outcomes of the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 (RES 2026) held in Astana, Kazakhstan, and how Central Asian nations are building the financial and institutional infrastructure to turn climate policy into action.

We examined three game-changing initiatives:

  • the first-ever Regional Investment Portfolio for Ecology and Climate designed to attract global ESG investors,
  • new National Climate Investment Platforms that streamline access to international green finance and Green Climate Fund (GCF) resources, and
  • the Just Transition Strategies being implemented to support energy and mining sector workers as the region pursues carbon neutrality.

Our guest speaker, Aidar Yessembayev, Head of Technologies Commercialization Competences Office at the International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (IGTIPC), shared firsthand insights into how investment portfolios, national platforms, and transition mechanisms are bridging the gap between global climate funds and local green initiatives, and how de-risking strategies are accelerating the deployment of green technologies across the region.
