When we discuss about climate change, there is one thing we can all agree on: it is necessary to understand the size of your carbon footprint. This is why quantifying GHG emissions and product and organizational carbon footprints has become a top priority.
The ISO carbon accounting standards help with this, offering a clear and shared method to calculate emissions in a precise and comparable way. They are a fundamental tool for understanding where to intervene and how to do it most effectively.
But there is an obstacle that risks slowing all this down: access to these standards is often paid. And this means that many organizations remain excluded and prefer to adopt other free tools.
For this reason, a petition has been launched to ISO to make these standards freely available: a strategic choice for climate justice, to allow anyone to use these important tools.

We spoke about this issue with Romain Poivet, climate and energy engagement lead of the World Benchmarking Alliance organization.
